Narrative and tabular data cover organization and operation, specific activities, complaints and dispositions, and recommendations bearing upon the work of Canada's correctional investigator, who is charged with investigating complaints of inmates and reporting these to the Solicitor General.
Abstract
Tabular data indicate complaints received by category, month, institution, and region. Data are also provided on institutional visits, inmate interviews, complaint disposition, and complaints resolved or where assistance was provided. Actions on last year's recommendations are reviewed, and new recommendations are offered in the areas of reading inmate correspondence, access to security information, searching of male inmates by female staff, inmate segregation, involuntary transfer, medical services, and other matters. Appendixes contain an order of the Committee of the Privy Council and a summary of the recommendations.
