ANALYSIS OF THE INTERRELATION BETWEEN THE CANJUS MODEL AND THE GENERATION AND USE OF SYSTEM DATA FOR INFORMATION DEVELOPMENT AND ANALYSIS OF THE CANADIAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM.
Abstract
THE THREE INTERINDEPENDENT PARTS OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM (CJS) IN CANADA ARE IDENTIFIED AS THE OFFENDERS AND PERSONS TREATED BY THE SYSTEM, THE ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE, AND POLICY FORMATION AND ANALYSIS. THIS REPORT DESCRIBES THE GROUPS AND ORGANIZATIONS INVOLVED AND THEIR INTERRELATIONSHIPS. SUBSEQUENT TO THIS DISCUSSION OF THE BASIC RELATIONSHIPS OF DATA, RESEARCH, MODELS, AND INFORMATION, THE QUANTITATIVE DESCRIPTIONS OF CJS ARE DIVIDED INTO TWO PARTS. THESE PARTS ARE THE INFORMATION SYSTEM ITSELF AND THE DEVELOPMENT AND UPDATING OF THE INFORMATION SYSTEM. CURRENT CJS RESEARCH EFFORTS ARE DESCRIBED. FOR RELATED CANJUS DOCUMENTATION, SEE NCJ-014942-46, NCJ-014948-50, AND NCJ-014929-32.
