Abstract
THIS 'HOW-TO-MANUAL' EXPLAINS THE CAPER METHODOLOGY WHICH CAN BE COMPUTERIZED OR USED MANUALLY. THE CAPER SYSTEM DESCRIBES THE LOCATION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF CRIMES REPORTED WITHIN ANY SIZE OR SHAPE GEOGRAPHIC AREA OF A CITY. BY PROVIDING A CLEARER VIEW OF CRIME DATA CAPER SHOULD AID CRIMINAL JUSTICE PLANNERS AND POLICE EXECUTIVES IN DEVELOPMENT AND EVALUATION OF CRIME CONTROL PROGRAMS.
