THE STORIES OF SIX ACCUSED CAPITAL MURDERERS ARE DETAILED ALONG WITH THOSE OF THE POLICE OFFICERS INVOLVED, THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEYS, AND THE DEFENSE LAWYERS. THE MATERIAL CONTAINED IN THE TEXT INCLUDES EXCERPTS FROM ACTUAL COURT TRANSCRIPTS. JURY ARGUMENTS HAVE ALSO BEEN REPRODUCED. IN A SEPARATE DISCUSSION, THE AUTHORS RAISE QUESTIONS REGARDING JUSTICE AND CAPITAL PUNISHMENT, CONCLUDING WITH A CASE FOR THE DEATH PENALTY.
