These 19 papers presented at a 1989 conference on security technology describe the development and testing of a variety of advances in physical and technical security systems.
Abstract
Individual papers describe a passive indoor/outdoor intrusion detection system, the ability of vault doors to attenuate sound, chemical liquids that reveal obscured writing, and an infrared imaging sensor that detects the presence of a person or vehicle. Other papers discuss the technology for detecting small amounts of precious metals, methods for improving document security, a portable x-ray system for detecting explosive devices, and the computer-aided processing of human body moire images. Other papers focus on software for processing identification-card information on large numbers of citizens, a new chemical treatment for developing latent fingerprints, methods for assessing vulnerabilities and threats prior to designing security systems, and approaches to handling false alarms from security systems.
