STUDY CONCERNED WITH THE PROBLEM OF VARIATION IN AGENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PAROLE REVOCATION AND ITS IMPACT UPON THE EFFECTS OF THE PAROLE PROGRAM.
Abstract
BACKGROUND FOR THE STUDY IS A GENERAL DISCUSSION OF FACTORS AFFECTING PAROLE REVOCATION RATES, WITH SPECIAL ATTENTION TO PAROLE AGENT DECISION MAKING. IN THE STUDY, TEN PAROLEE CASE HISTORIES IN WHICH BEHAVIOR HAD PROMPTED A CONSIDERATION OF VIOLATION WERE SUBMITTED TO AGENTS WITH REQUEST TO RECOMMEND CONTINUED PAROLE OR RETURN TO PRISON. THE PAPER IS CONCERNED WITH THE WIDE VARIATION IN THE AGENTS' RESPONSES AND IN THEIR BACKGROUNDS AND ATTITUDES.
