CASE MANAGEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PROBATION AGENCIES ARE PRESENTED.
Abstract
A JUVENILE COURT SERVICES DIRECTOR SUGGESTS THAT PROBATION DEPARTMENTS SHOULD CONSCIOUSLY DEFINE THEIR MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND CONSIDER ACCOUNTABILITY IN THE DELIVERY OF SERVICES AS A PRIORITY. EACH DEPARTMENT SHOULD DEVELOP A WRITTEN AND EASILY UNDERSTANDABLE STATEMENT OF ITS PHILOSOPHY THAT CAN BE USED AS A REFERENCE POINT BY STAFF MEMBERS. STAFF ACTIVITIES ARE MOST PRODUCTIVE IF THEY ARE DIRECTED BY CLEARLY DEFINED GOALS AND OBJECTIVES. FURTHERMORE, NEW APPROACHES TO CASE MANAGEMENT SHOULD BE ADOPTED ONLY IF THEY WOULD CLEARLY CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEPARTMENT'S PREVIOUSLY DEFINED AIMS. THE AUDIOTAPE CASSETTE IS SUITABLE FOR THOSE WORKING IN PROBATION SERVICES. A TABLE OF CONTENTS IS INCLUDED, BUT NO FURTHER SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS ARE PROVIDED.
