AUTHOR FINDS THAT ATTITUDES IN THE ENGLISH JUDICIAL SYSTEM HAVE BEEN RELAXING IN THE PAST 20 YEARS.
Abstract
UNDER CHARGES FOR MANY YEARS THAT THE ENGLISH BENCH WAS ISOLATED FROM THE COMMUNITY, ENGLISH JUDICIAL THOUGHT HAS BEEN LIBERALIZING AND COMING CLOSER TO THAT OF AMERICAN JUDICIAL THOUGHT. THE ENGLISH COURT HAS BEEN RESPONDING TO SOCIETAL WISHES IN A NUMBER OF RULINGS INVOLVING OBSCENITY, THE CONTEMPT OF COURT CONCEPT, LEGAL AID, AND DIVORCE. ENGLISH JUDICIAL STANDARDS OF CONDUCT HAVE BEEN EASING, AND SO HAVE JUDICIAL RELATIONS WITH THE PRESS.
