Abstract
As of December 31, 1995, there were 90,450 California felons on parole supervision. Of these, 91.2 percent were males. Violent offenders accounted for 26.8 percent of the parolees, and property offenders accounted for 29.1 percent; drug offenders, 33.2 percent; and remaining offenses, 10.8 percent. The Hispanic racial/ethnic group constituted the highest percentage of the parolees. In Region I, however, the white racial/ethnic group had the largest percentage of parolees (42.6 percent), and in Region II the African-American racial/ethnic group had the largest percentage of parolees (34 percent). Almost half (46.1 percent) of the parolees were in the 25- to 34-year-old age group. The largest age group was 30-34 years old and accounted for 23.3 percent of the parolee population. The next largest group was the 25- to 29-year-old age group (22.8 percent). The 60-and-over age group accounted for 1.1 percent of the parolee population. 10 tables and 6 figures
