CHARACTERISTICS OF VIOLENT AND NONVIOLENT INMATES WERE COMPARED.
Abstract
RANDOMLY SELECTED INMATES WERE PLACED IN VIOLENT AND NONVIOLENT GROUPS AND THEIR PRISON RECORDS ANALYZED FOR VARIABLES. IT WAS CONCLUDED THAT THE INMATE AT SAN QUENTIN WHO COMMITTED A VIOLENT ACT OR THREATENED VIOLENCE WHILE INCARCERATED DURING 1960 DIFFERED ON CERTAIN PSYCHO-SOCIAL DIMENSIONS FROM THE SEGMENT OF THE NONVIOLENT POPULATION TO WHICH HE WAS COMPARED.
