Abstract
THE COMMUNITY EDUCATION ON LAW AND JUSTICE PROJECT IS AN EFFORT TO HELP INFORM COMMUNITY GROUPS ABOUT THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM. IT HELPS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS THRUGHOUT ILLINOIS PLAN AND ORGANIZE CRIMINAL JUSTICE STUDY GROUPS FOR ADULTS BY OFFERING PLANNING ASSISTANCE AND INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS. THIS ORGANIZATIONAL MANUAL COVERS: DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY SUPPORT FOR THE PROGRAM, PUBLICITY, FUNDRAISING, SELECTION OF A LEADER FOR THE STUDY GROUP, SITE SELECTION RECRUITMENT OF MEMBERS FOR THE GROUP, TAILORING OF MATERIAL TO FIT LOCAL NEEDS, RECRUITMENT OF LOCAL SPEAKERS, AND EVALUATION OF THE SESSIONS. IT GIVES INFORMATION ON FILING FOR NONPROFIT TAX STATUS, CUTTING COSTS, AND APPLYING FOR GRANT FUNDS. A SAMPLE EVALUATION FORM AND SAMPLES FROM THE STUDY MATERIALS ARE APPENDED. (GLR)
