This report outlines the activities of the New York State unified court system in 1989.
Abstract
The first section outlines the New York State court structure, administration, finances, and program highlights. The caseload activity report discusses criminal cases, civil cases, family court dockets, surrogates' courts, appellate courts, community dispute resolution centers, and standards and goals of the Chief Administrator of the Courts which provide performance measures for elapsed time to disposition. Another section describes judicial education programs for State-paid judges, town and village justice training programs, and training programs for law librarians, court clerks, law assistants, and other non-judicial employees. Legislation and rule revisions are summarized as are the 1990 reports of the Advisory Committee on Civil Practices, the Advisory Committee on Criminal Law and Procedure, and the Family Court Advisory and Rule Committee. 142 tables, 6 figures, and 2 appendixes
