Abstract
THE LARGE NUMBER OF UNREPORTED CASES OF CHILD ABUSE ATTESTS TO A NEED FOR BETTER EDUCATION OF TEACHERS SO THAT THEY ARE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE SUCH PROBLEMS BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE. THE FILM IS DESIGNED TO HELP FAMILIARIZE TEACHERS, SOCIAL WORKERS, SCHOOL NURSES, AND ADMINISTRATORS WITH FEDERAL AND STATE LAWS CONCERNING CHILD ABUSE. DRAMATIZED SITUATIONS INVOLVING TEACHERS AND STUDENTS SHOW THE VARIOUS PHYSICAL AND BEHAVIORAL SIGNALS OF ABUSE CASES. LEGAL, MEDICAL, AND SOCIAL WELFARE EXPERTS ANALYZE THE TEACHER'S APPROACHES AND GIVE PRECISE ANSWERS TO THEIR QUESTIONS. THE FILM, ALONG WITH ITS STUDY GUIDE, PROVIDES ALL THE NECESSARY MATERIAL TO TRAIN SCHOOL TEACHERS IN THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES TOWARD VICTIMS OF CHILD ABUSE. THE LEGAL IMPLICATIONS ARE CAREFULLY EXPLAINED, AND TEACHERS ARE PROVIDED WITH THE PROPER PROCEDURES FOR REPORTING CASES OF ABUSE OR NEGLECT.
