REPORT ON A STUDY DESIGNED TO DETERMINE AND EVALUATE CHILD ABUSE LEGILSATION AND REPORTING SYSTEMS IN THE REGION AND TO DETERMINE AND DESCRIBE CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES PROGRAMS AND STAFF.
Abstract
ANOTHER STUDY OBJECTIVE WAS TO DETERMINE AND DESCRIBE THE EXTENT AND QUALITY OF SPECIAL DEMONSTRATION PROGRAMS CURRENTLY DIRECTED TO THE CHILD ABUSE FIELD. THE EIGHT STATES IN THIS REGION (ALABAMA, FLORIDA, GEORGIA, KENTUCKY, MISSISSIPPI, NORTH AND SOUTH CAROLINA, AND TENNESSEE) ARE COMPARED TO EACH OTHER, AND WHERE APPROPRIATE, TO PREVIOUSLY ARTICULATED GUIDELINES. THE REPORT IS DIVIDED INTO THE FOLLOWING AREAS: DEFINING AND RESTRAINING ELEMENTS OF THE REPORTING STATUTES; IMPLEMENTATION OF REPORTS UNDER THE STATUTES; STAFF, PROGRAMS, AND SERVICES; THE CENTRAL REGISTRY; AND INTERRELATIONSHIPS OF CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICE PROGRAMS. IT IS BASED ON AN ASSESSMENT OF DATA FROM PERSONAL INTERVIEWS AND TWO QUESTIONNAIRE SURVEYS ON THE PROVISIONS OF CHILD ABUSE LEGISLATION AND REPORTING SYSTEMS AND THE STATES' STAFF, PROGRAMS, AND SERVICE AVAILABILITY AND CONTENT.
