HISTORY OF THE HANDLING OF NEGLECT CASES IN THE PAST WITH AN EXPLORATION OF THE IMPLICATIONS FOR LAWYERS AND SOCIAL WORKERS OF THE SUPREME COURT'S KENT AND GAULT DECISIONS.
Abstract
SOME OF THE QUESTIONS WHICH THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES INCLUDE HOW DUE PROCESS CAN BE ASSURED FOR BOTH PARENT AND CHILD IN A NEGLECT HEARING, WHETHER SUCH HEARINGS WILL BE ADVERSARY PROCEEDINGS, WHO SHOULD REPRESENT THE CHILD, AND HOW CONFLICTS OF INTEREST CAN BE RESOLVED. IN ADDITION, THE AUTHOR ADVISES PROTECTIVE AGENCIES TO PROVIDE LEGAL CONSULTATION TO HELP THEIR STAFF PREPARE CASES FOR COURT PROCESSING.
