Following a discussion of criminal justice and therapeutic goals, rationales, and intervention, this report describes nine child sexual abuse programs offering a variety of victim, family, and offender services.
Abstract
Programs are in Canada, Washington, Minnesota, Illinois, and California. Services provided by these programs include crisis intervention; individual and family counseling; self-help groups; program and case coordination; case assessment; witness support; protocol (forensic, social, police) development; public education and professional training; and specialized services for child, adolescent, and adult victims. About half of the programs focus on the family, half on the victim. Integrated offender treatment and reunification of the family are major goals of the family-focused programs. The utility of strong criminal justice intervention was favored by six of the seven programs for which this information was available. 60 references.
