Abstract
The first part of the report describes the areas from which juvenile court statistics were reported for 1937, followed by an analysis of the trend in the number of delinquency cases reported by 28 courts during 1929-37. Also provided is an analysis of the cases reported by the 53 courts providing individualized data for 1937. The main body of the report presents data by offender race and sex. Appended trend tables for 1929-37 include data on age, nativity, reason for court referral, source of referral, place of detention, and case disposition. Statistics on Federal juvenile offenders encompass the numbers of offenders brought to the attention of U.S. probation officers, received in jails and held pending trial, discharged from detention, and placed under supervision or received under sentence in jails and in Federal institutions. 23 tables, 11 figures.
