THE ADVANTAGES AND ROLES OF COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS IN THE JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM ARE DISCUSSED.
Abstract
A PROJECT ADMINISTRATOR FOR A CALIFORNIA YOUTH AUTHORITY PAROLE PROGRAM SUGGESTS THAT CITIZEN INVOLVEMENT WILL LEAD TO A SENSE OF COMMUNITY RESPONSIBILITY AND TO MORE INFORMED LAWS. THEN, A VOLUNTEER OF NUMEROUS BOARDS OF YOUTH-SERVING AGENCIES LISTS ROLES THAT VOLUNTEERS CAN PLAY, SUCH AS WORKING IN ACTUAL SERVICE DELIVERY, IN FUND RAISING, ON POSTDISPOSITIONAL FOLLOWUPS, IN CONSTITUENCY REPRESENTATION, AND ON BRINGING PROFESSIONALS IN CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER. THE AUDIOTAPE CASSETTE IS INTENDED FOR GENERAL AUDIENCES. A TABLE OF CONTENTS IS INCLUDED, BUT OTHER SUPPORTING MATERIALS ARE NOT PROVIDED. FOR RELATED TAPES, SEE NCJ 69273-79 AND 69281-85.
