This 1979 annual report of the Tampa, Fla., city police department describes the department's structure, operations, and workload for the year.
Abstract
The department received over 352,000 calls for police services, an increase of 6.0 percent over the previous year. A total of 31,927 Part I offenses were reported to the police, an increase of 18.4 percent over 1978. Traffic citations totaled 70,280, a decrease of 4.1 percent from the previous year. The detective division satisfactorily cleared 65 percent of the 19,508 cases referred to it. Descriptions of the activities of the homicide and robbery bureau, the burglary bureau, the larceny bureau, and the juvenile bureau are also provided. Reports also cover the activities of the following tactical division units: the selective enforcement divison, the tactical response team, the hazardous device unit, the criminal intelligence unit, the hostage negotiation team, and the vice control bureau. Other sections describe the department's administrative work, staff, and related components. Photographs and extensive tables are provided.
