Abstract
THE ARTICLE BRIEFLY SURVEYS SOME OF THE MAJOR SYSTEMS WHICH HAVE BEEN DESIGNED FOR HANDWRITING IDENTIFICATION. THE AUTHOR EXPLAINS THE BASIC PRINCIPLES EMPLOYED, CRITICIZES THE INDIVIDUAL METHODOLOGIES, AND DEMONSTRATES THEIR FAILURE, THUS FAR, TO ACHIEVE UNIVERSAL APPLICATION IN FORENSIC CASEWORK.
