Abstract
RAPID SOCIAL CHANGE AND POVERTY, ARE CITED AS PRIMARY CAUSES OF CRIME AND DELINQUENCY. THIS COLLECTION OF ARTICLES PRESENTS A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE JUVENILE DELINQUENT, HIS FAMILY LIFE, AND GENERAL ENVIRONMENT. LOSS OF INTEREST IN SCHOOL AND CONFLICTS WITH AUTHORITY FIGURES IN THE SCHOOL AND HOME ARE CITED AS EARLY DELINQUENT MANIFESTATIONS AND OPTIMAL POINTS AT WHICH TREATMENT AND PREVENTIVE EFFORTS SHOULD BE INITIATED. CASE STUDIES ARE INCLUDED WHICH DIFFERENTIATE MALE FROM FEMALE DEVIANT BEHAVIOR, AS WELL AS LOWER CLASS FROM MIDDLE CLASS DEVIANCE. THE IMPACT OF DRUG USE ON YOUTH IS NOTED IN A DISCUSSION ON THE EFFECTS OF MOOD ALTERING DRUGS. A GLOSSARY OF THE LANGUAGE OF THE DRUG USER IS ALSO PRESENTED.
