Abstract
The introductory chapters discuss the national perspective on drug abuse, the behavioral pharmacology of drug abuse, and various aspects of drug abuse education and prevention. Chapters related to cocaine cover its pharmacology and toxicology, cocaine kinetics in humans, and the medical and psychiatric treatment of cocaine abuse. Three chapters deal with the pharmakinetics and pharmacodynamics of marijuana, its effects on testicular function, and the detection of marijuana through urinalysis. The four subsequent chapters examine the emergence of different designer drugs and their pharmacology, while the final chapter covers the use of anabolic steroids by athletes. Chapter references
