This flyer depicts recovering addicts discussing the physical and psychological effects of cocaine and its derivative 'crack.'
Abstract
Crack and cocaine are discussed in terms of the immediate effects on the body, such as dilated pupils, narrowing blood vessels, increased blood pressure, heart and breathing rates and body temperatures, loss of appetite, difficulty in sleeping, runny nose, and mood swings from exhilaration to depression. The danger of addiction, behavioral changes, psychological effects, risks to pregnant users and their unborn babies, and myths associated with use -- such as heightened concentration and sexual pleasure -- are covered. Also discussed is how crack is being used, its uses with other drugs, its costs, impurities in the substance, withdrawal symptoms, and treatment for addiction.
