This article discusses different techniques for collecting and analyzing data for intelligence analysis.
Abstract
The introduction discusses intelligence analysis as being cyclical in nature in the sense that data collection is followed by analysis that refines the type of data needed for further analysis. Plans for collection and analysis must take into account the overall plan for the intelligence operation. Procedures for adapting collection and analysis plans to the overall plan are provided and examined. Examples of plans actually implemented are discussed to illustrate adaptation to different subjects. Methodological approaches are presented as well as the application of methodologies to specific organized crime intelligence operations. 6 figures and 9 references.
