The Colorado Department of Corrections (DOC) Statistical Report for fiscal year 1999 contains detailed offender data that provide insights on the inmate population and the operation of Colorado's correctional system.
Abstract
The DOC has experienced significant growth in the offender population in recent years, and the statistical report characterizes offenders under the DOC's jurisdiction. Data are presented on offenders incarcerated in secure facilities, placements in community corrections programs, and offenders supervised on parole. In addition, data on juvenile offenders sentenced as adults to the Youthful Offender System are reported and statistics are tabulated on sentencing trends, technical prison returns, and length of stay for releases. Data are organized in seven sections: overview, inmate population trends, characteristics of adult prison admissions, characteristics of prison releases, inmate population characteristics, parole population, and Youthful Offender System. Additional information is offered in appendixes on correctional facility security levels and populations and facility operational capacities. Tables and figures
