EXAMINATION OF AVAILABLE STATISTICS AND REASONS FOR REDUCED COMMITMENTS BY SIX JUDICIAL DISTRICTS TO THE BOYS' AND THE GIRLS' TRAINING SCHOOLS IN COLORADO.
Abstract
RESULTS SHOW THAT THIS REDUCTION IN INSTITUTIONAL COMMITMENT HAS COME LARGELY THROUGH THE COMBINED EFFORTS OF JUDGES, SOCIAL AGENCIES, AND THE POLICE. THE AUTHORS PRESENT A STUDY ON PAROLE DATA, WHICH ANALYZES THE SUCCESS AND FAILURE RATES OF YOUTH ON PAROLE. THE STUDY CITES FACTORS, SUCH AS REDUCED CASELOAD, WHICH HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO A REDUCTION OF PAROLE FAILURES. THE APPENDIX CONTAINS COMMENTS ON STATISTICS, AS WELL AS DESCRIPTIONS OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE AGENCIES IN COLORADO.
