STUDY OF ARMED ROBBERY OF BUSINESS ESTABLISHMENTS USING THE SERIES OF EVENTS SURROUNDING THE CRIME AND THE ACTION AND REACTION OF THE PARTICIPANTS.
Abstract
THE PARTICIPANTS ARE THE OFFENDER, THE TARGET POPULATION OF BUSINESSES, AND THE POLICE. THE EVENTS INCLUDE THE ROBBER'S PERCEPTION OF OPPORTUNITY FOR COMMERCIAL ROBBERY, PLANNING OF THE OFFENSE, AND ITS EXECUTION. THE POLICE AND TARGET POPULATION'S COUNTERMEASURES TO THESE EVENTS AND THE PROCESSING OF APPREHENDED SUSPECTS ARE INCLUDED. BACKGROUND ON INFORMATION SOURCES AND RESEARCH, ENVIRONMENT, QUANTIFICATION OF COMMERCIAL ROBBERY, AND MOTIVATIONS OF THE MAJOR PARTICIPANTS ARE DISCUSSED. A SUMMARY OF FINDINGS IS INCLUDED AS ARE THREE APPENDIXES CONTAINING A SERIES OF BRIEF PROBLEM STATEMENTS BASED ON REPORT FINDINGS, SOURCES OF INFORMATION, SURVEY DETAIL, AND BEAT DESCRIPTIONS.
