This annual report presents activities within the various bureaus of the State of Massachusetts, Office of the Attorney General for the time period of July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002.
Abstract
Within the State of Massachusetts, Office of the Attorney General there are six bureaus. These consist of the Executive Bureau, the Business and Labor Protection Bureau, the Community-Based Justice Bureau, the Criminal Bureau, the Government Bureau, and the Public Protection Bureau. Within each bureau, there are a number of offices and divisions. For the Executive Bureau the offices and divisions include: General Counsel’s office; Human Resource Management office; External Affairs office; Information and Technology Division; Budget office; Operations Division; and Communication office. For the Business and Labor Protection Bureau, the offices and divisions include: Fair Labor and Business Practices Division; Insurance and Unemployment Fraud Division; and Medicaid Fraud Control Unit. For the Community-Based Justice Bureau, the offices and divisions include: Victim Compensation and Assistance Division and Safe Neighborhood Initiative Division. For the Criminal Bureau, the offices and divisions are many and include, but are not limited to Appellate Division, Public Integrity Division, Special Investigations and Narcotics Division, Economic Crimes Division, Financial Investigation Division, and Central Artery/Tunnel project. For the Government Bureau, the offices and divisions consist of two: Administrative Law Division and Trial Division. In the Public Protection Bureau, the offices and divisions include: the Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, Consumer Protection and Antitrust, Environmental Protection, Insurance, Investigations, Utilities, Public Charities, and Mediation Services divisions. This report presents significant initiatives, efforts, and activities within each office and division in the Attorney General Office for fiscal year 2002 (July 1, 2001 to June 30, 2002). Appendix
