The analysis of local jails from an organizational perspective has received limited attention in the literature.
Abstract
Moreover, there has been very little study of the relationships or interactions between various types of jail employees. This analysis assessed the influence organizational communications have on inmate management. This study utilized a sample of correctional employees from a large jail in the midwest. Descriptive and quantitative techniques allowed a concise examination of the data. The findings show that most employees believe that correctional officers are effective inmate managers while they concurrently report that communications with the administrative and social service staff are ineffective. This analysis provides preliminary information about the relationship between organizational communications and its relevance to jail operations. 4 tables and 32 references (Author abstract)
