This document contains information on the contributions of non-governmental organizations to the United Nations' work in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice.
Abstract
The report attempts to clarify the status of non-governmental organizations and the various rules and regulations governing their attendance at and participation in international forums, and to illustrate the importance and relevance of their work in crime prevention and criminal justice. Chapters on non-governmental organizations and the United Nations discuss, among other topics, United Nations congresses on the prevention of crime and the treatment of offenders, non-governmental organizations and the Department for Public Information, and the United Nations and the International Scientific and Professional Advisory Council. A separate chapter contains contributions from 20 non-governmental organizations (with contact addresses and information) such as the Asia Crime Prevention Foundation, Human Rights Watch, Street Kids International and World Muslim Congress.
