During 1989, inmates performed 6.5 million hours of community service with a value of more than $50 million. Inmates also reupholster furniture for State institutions and print materials for both State and local government agencies. Services provided to cities and counties include road clearance, tree trimming, park maintenance, weed abatement, toy repairs, firewood cutting, and many other activities.
