This paper describes criminal investigator training in the United States and West Germany.
Abstract
The paper includes materials from a survey conducted in December, 1984 of 133 police departments from throughout the United States dealing with the subject of pre-service, in-service, and advanced training of officers for CID assignment. Findings suggest that United States Police agencies provide limited training for investigators prior to and during CID service. The West German approach to training is more centralized, more standardized, and of longer duration than programs and requirements in the United States. (Publisher abstract)
