EIGHT SECTIONS OF COMPARATIVE ANALYSES OF ISSUES REGARDING JUVENILE COURT JURISDICTION.
Abstract
THIS VOLUME IS ONE OF NINE IN A SERIES OF WORKING PAPERS OF THE NATIONAL TASK FORCE TO DEVELOP STANDARDS AND GOALS FOR JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION. ISSUES WITHIN EACH ANALYSIS ARE ORGANIZED BY TITLE, DESCRIPTION, SUMMARY OF MAJOR POSITIONS, SUMMARY OF STATE PRACTICES, SUMMARY OF POSITIONS RECOMMENDED BY OTHER STANDARDS GROUPS, ANALYSIS, AND TASK FORCE STANDARDS AND RATIONALE. THE FIRST TWO SECTIONS OF THIS VOLUME CONSIDER THE MINIMUM AND MAXIMUM AGES TO WHICH ADJUDICATORY JURISDICTION SHOULD ATTACH. RELATED SECTIONS DISCUSS THE STAGE AT WHICH A JUVENILE'S AGE SHOULD BE DETERMINED AND WHEN A JUVENILE SHOULD BE AUTHORIZED TO AN ADULT COURT. ALSO COMMENTED UPON IS THE APPROPRIATE DURATION OF JUVENILE COURT JURISDICTION. THE LAST TWO PAPERS IN THE VOLUME FOCUS ON JUVENILE VENUE STATUS AND TRAFFIC OFFENSES.
