PRESENTATION OF STATISTICS SHOWING THE RELATIVE RATES OF JUVENILE DELINQUENCY AMONG MALES AND FEMALES AND OFFENSES TYPICAL OF EACH, WITH DISCUSSION OF POSSIBLE REASONS FOR THE DIFFERENCES REVEALED.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS THAT THE STATISTICS MAY NOT BE ENTIRELY ACCURATE IN SHOWING A MUCH HIGHER RATE OF DELINQUENCY AMONG MALES. THE OFFENSES COMMITTED BY FEMALES TEND TO BE LESS HARMFUL TO SOCIETY, AND CONSEQUENTLY THEY TEND TO GET OFF WITHOUT PUNISHMENT MORE FREQUENTLY. ACTUALLY, THE INCIDENCE OF OFFENSES BY FEMALES MAY BE CONSIDERABLY HIGHER THAN THE STATISTICS INDICATE. --IN FRENCH
