This report uses official data to compare inmate profiles in Kentucky correctional institutions for each year from 1985 to 1989 and to make some comparisons with national data.
Abstract
Data cover the total incarceration rates, types of crime, parole violations, sentence lengths, and inmate ages. Findings show that the Kentucky inmate population is growing older and more violent, although its growth in age is consistent with that of the general population. Kentucky needs to plan for further changes in the inmate population.
