Abstract
THE 13 GRANT OBJECTIVES RANGE FROM THE GATHERING, PUBLISHING, AND DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION ON CRIME PREVENTION TO DESIGNING AND CONDUCTING WORKSHOPS, PREPARING REPORTS, AND DEVELOPING AND IMPLEMENTING PROGRAMS TO SELECT CRIME PREVENTION PRACTITIONERS FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CONSULTATIONS. DETAILED IMPLEMENTATION OF EACH OBJECTIVE IS DESCRIBED. ACTIVITIES ON GATHERING, PUBLISHING, AND DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION ON CRIME PREVENTION INCLUDE SAMPLES OF THE CRIME PREVENTION NEWSLETTER 'FOCUS,' A CUMULATIVE LIST OF BOOKS AND MAGAZINES PURCHASED, AND A DESCRIPTION OF THE REORGANIZATION OF THE INFORMATION CENTER FILES. THE ENTIRE 'DIRECTORY OF CRIME PREVENTION EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS' IS INCLUDED. PROCEDURES FOR THE SELECTION OF CRIME PREVENTION PRACTITIONERS TO PERFORM TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE CONSULTATIONS ARE DESCRIBED; A LIST OF THOSE SELECTED FOR THE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IS INCLUDED. THE 2-DAY WORKSHOP TO TRAIN THE 20 CRIME PREVENTION PRACTITIONERS IS DESCRIBED, WITH THE MATERIALS USED AND DEVELOPED DURING THE TRAINING SESSIONS PROVIDED. A SUMMARY OF THE COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNITY CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS OUTLINES THE DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED AND OFFERS SUGGESTIONS FOR SIMILAR GRANT PROJECTS.
