This manual presents step-by-step instructions for examining compliance with New York State's procedures for supervising persons sentenced to or placed on probation.
Abstract
The manual is intended for use in the self-assessments by local departments and in the formal reviews of compliance with State rules. The manual is designed primarily for use in reviewing criminal supervision, but it can be adapted for conducting case reviews of juvenile supervision records. The guidelines cover the sampling methodology to be used in preparation for reviews, the procedures that should be applied, the composition of the review team, onsite activities, reporting requirements and procedures, and the statewide coordination of the review system. Appendixes present checklists, review instruments, and related materials.
