Abstract
Information is presented on a total of 2,569 clients diverted from the justice system who received a service from a youth service bureau. Basic demographic information is presented, along with information on sources of referral and service received, status offenses, and a regional breakdown of the diverted client data and other information about the State-funded youth service bureaus. Information is provided on 16,635 nondiverted clients served by youth service bureaus. These cases represent those who were not in contact or manifestly at risk of contact with the justice system, were neglected, and had other personal need situations which warranted intervention. Data on these cases provide general demographic information, referral sources, and services received. Also provided are aggregate attendance figures for group activities and programs sponsored by the bureaus during the reporting period. Data are based on attendance at 459 programs under the general categories of special focus groups, positive youth development, job programs, volunteer programs, outdoor challenge programs, and youth advisory councils. Contact persons and addresses are provided for the youth service bureaus throughout the State.
