This biennial report of the Office of Adult Probation for the State of Connecticut describes the agency's responsibilities, its caseloads from 1977-78 through 1979-80, and the training provided to probation personnel by the agency's training staff.
Abstract
LEAA grants provided funding to purchase services in the areas of employment, mental health, and drug and alcohol treatment; to increase the use of volunteers in such activities as the management of caseloads and assisting with intake; to improve client classification so as to concentrate available resources on high-risk probationers; and continuation of the development of an online information system. Other projects were Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime (TASC), which aimed to reduce drug-related crime and alcohol-related crime by referring clients to appropriate treatment and a demonstration project for the improvement of presentence investigation reports. The agency's caseload is expected to increase when a law permitting the release of sentenced inmates from overcrowded correctional facilities takes effect on July 1, 1981. Tabular data are included.
