Abstract
Consumer laws are grouped by color-coded sections according to the particular State agency charged with enforcement of particular laws. Thus, banking and credit regulations enforced by the Department of Business Regulation are identified and briefly described. Laws governing the Office of Consumer Counsel in its capacity as advocate for consumer interests with respect to public service companies are reviewed. Other sections outline motor vehicle, life, accident and health insurance laws and regulations pertaining to child day care services enforced by the State Department of Children and Youth Services. Product safety, pricing practices, and contract disclosure laws regulated by the State Department of Consumer Protection are described and provisions of the Connecticut Freedom of Information Act are disclosed. Various laws enforced by the Department of Health Services, including adoption, immunization of children against certain diseases, and pricing policies of funeral directors are presented. Housing programs, urban renewal and community development programs administered by the Department of Housing. Anti-discrimination laws enforced by the Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities, and occupational safety and health regulations of the Department of Labor are also given.
