This structured workbook is intended for those family members and nonoffending parents who have experienced sexual abuse within their families.
Abstract
In an attempt to assist families or nonoffending parents traumatized from the experience of sexual violence within their families, specifically child sexual abuse, this structured and comprehensive workbook was designed to promote family healing and child safety and encourage survival. The workbook, under the Connections program which is a structured, psychoeducational program for nonoffending parents of sexually abused children and partners of sexual offenders, is divided into 10 sections that include: (1) common feelings of parents and partners; (2) denial in family members; (3) how sexual abuse affects children and families; (4) signs and symptoms of sexual abuse in children; (5) if you were sexually abused as a child; (6) learning about sexual offenders; (7) how to protect your children from sexual abuse; (8) developing a safety plan for your family; (9) considering reunification with an offender and his victim; and (10) making sense of it all.
