THE AUTHOR OFFERS A NUMBER OF PRACTICAL SUGGESTIONS FOR THE PLANNING, DESIGN, UTILIZATION, FURNISHING, AND UPKEEP OF POLICE FACILITIES.
Abstract
RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE FOR SUCH AREAS AS THE PUBLIC WAITING AND RECEPTION AREA, THE POLICE CAR SALLYPORT ENTRANCE, HOLDING AREAS, INTERVIEW AREAS, LOCKER ROOMS, EVIDENCE STORAGE FACILITIES, THE TRAINING AREA, AND FIREARMS TRAINING FACILITIES. THE AUTHOR STRESSES THE NEED FOR FLEXIBILITY IN BUILDING DESIGN, AND SUGGESTS USE OF SUCH DESIGN FEATURES AS OPEN OFFICE PLANNING AND DEMOUNTABLE WALL PARTITIONS. HE ALSO EMPHASIZES THE NEED FOR SUCH FEATURES AS CARPETS, MODERN COLOR SCHEMES, AND SEPARATE FACILITIES FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND POLICE SUSPECTS. SAMPLE ARCHITECTURAL SKETCHES OF SEVERAL FACILITIES ARE INCLUDED....DMC
