THIS TEXTBOOK PRESENTS 28 ARTICLES DEALING WITH THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT AND CURRENT STATUS OF VICTIM COMPENSATION AND RESTITUTION, AND THE MAJOR ISSUES IN CRIME VICTIMOLOGY.
Abstract
THIS VOLUME IS INTENDED TO BE OF USE IN LAW SCHOOLS, DEPARTMENTS OF SOCIOLOGY, AND CRIMINAL JUSTICE EDUCATION. THE TEXT IS DIVIDED INTO SIX TOPICAL SECTIONS DEALING WITH THE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF RESTITUTION AND VICTIM COMPENSATION, PHILOSOPHICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR THE PROGRAMS, LEGAL PERSPECTIVES ON THE VICTIM, PSYCHOLOGICAL AND SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES, AND PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF RESTITUTION AND VICTIM COMPENSATION PROGRAMS. EACH SECTION IS PREFACED BY A BRIEF INTRODUCTION. THESE ARTICLES EXAMINE, AMONG OTHER THINGS, WHETHER THE CRIME VICTIM IS IGNORED IN THE ADMINISTRATION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE, WHETHER THE LAW GIVES DUE RECOGNITION TO THE CRIME VICTIM, AND WHETHER THE STATE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DAMAGES SUSTAINED IN CRIMINAL VICTIMIZATION.
