THIS STUDY ANALYZES UNIFORM CRIME REPORT CRIMES AGAINST PERSON TO SEE IF THERE WERE INCREASES IN VIOLENT CRIMES PRECIPITATED BY THE ASSASSINATION OF JOHN F. KENNEDY, AND THE MASS MURDERS BY RICHARD SPECK AND CHARLES WHITMAN.
Abstract
FOLLOWING THE KENNEDY ASSASSINATION WAS A SHORT PERIOD OF SHOCK AND READJUSTMENT, FOLLOWED BY AN UPSWING IN VIOLENT CRIMES. THE SPECK AND WHITMAN INCIDENTS SEEM TO HAVE PRECIPITATED SHARP UPTURNS IN VIOLENT CRIME OCCURRENCES.
