A SOCIOLOGICALLY-ORIENTED OVERVIEW OF VIOLENCE IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY, WITH EMPHASIS ON THE SOCIETAL CAUSES OF DELINQUENCY AND VIOLENT BEHAVIOR.
Abstract
SOME GENERAL RESEARCH FINDINGS AND CONCLUSIONS RELATED TO VIOLENCE ARE REVIEWED. THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS THAT DELINQUENCY IS ONE MEANS OF COMPENSATING FOR EXPLOITATION AND REDUCED LIFE OPPORTUNITIES, AND THAT UNDERLYING FRUSTRATION IN CONTEMPORARY SOCIETY CREATES AN ENVIRONMENT CONDUCIVE TO VIOLENT IMPULSES AND THEIR EXPRESSION.
