This volume presents the proceedings of a 1991 workshop that brought together teachers, police, and other practitioners from Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom to discuss ways in which the police and the school systems are cooperating and can address topics such as school security, safety, drug abuse, and issues related to minorities.
Abstract
Individual presentations focused on the prevention of juvenile delinquency, vandalism, and drug abuse; methods of integrating at-risk youth into society; and school crime prevention. Other sessions presented examples of cooperation among the police, the schools, and other agencies and discussed research-based evaluation based on the principles of action research. The workshops emphasized the need for participation in crime prevention efforts by parents, the public, students, police, and school personnel. Figures, tables, photograph, and appended background information and list of participants are included.
