This booklet offers veterans and military victims of sexual assault, as well as professionals working with victims with information about sexual assault, the recovery process, medical concerns, reporting options, and information about the Department of Defense policies on sexual assault prevention and response (SAPR).
Abstract
Written specifically for women and men who were victims of any type of sexual trauma on active duty, this booklet provides information in two parts: (1) information about military sexual trauma, reporting policies, medical concerns, and recovery and (2) where to go for help, more information, and support. The booklet is also a good resource for family members, friends, and helping professionals to learn more about military sexual trauma and how to support victims through a difficult time. An overview of the new Department of Defense policies on sexual assault prevention and response (DOD SAPR) is also provided, as well as valuable information is offered on victims’ concerns, reporting barriers, medical issues, family impact, and the recovery process.
