ALSO PROVIDED IS A REVIEW OF THE STRUCTURE AND PRINCIPLES OF THE WEST GERMAN CORRECTIONAL CODE. INDIVIDUAL CHAPTERS ANALYZE THE WEST GERMAN SYSTEM WITH REGARD TO TYPES OF INSTITUTIONS, PLANNING, PERSONNEL, INMATE SUBCULTURE, SECURITY, AND DISCIPLINE. ALSO ANALYZED ARE THE OPERATIONAL PROCESSES OF INCORPORATION OF NEW INMATES, DAY-TO-DAY ACTIVITIES, LEISURE AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, TREATMENT METHODS, SPECIAL THERAPEUTIC PROGRAMS, CONTACT WITH THE OUTSIDE, AND RELEASE.
