Information concerning probation and parole is provided.
Abstract
In this annual report, data is presented in narrative, tabular, and graphic formats. Tabular and graphic data are generally presented in a State-by-State format. Data was collected from probation and parole agencies from 49 of the United States, the District of Columbia, and the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons as well as from follow-up telephone interviews to verify and gather additional information. Specific areas covered by this report include, inter alia, administration of probation and parole agencies, reporting authorities, percentages of probationers, prisoners, and parolees as of January 1, 1989, entry and maximum salaries for probation and parole officers, salary ranges of chief administrators of probation and parole agencies, causes for removing probationers and parolees from supervision, use of electronic monitoring devices for probationers and parolees, and use of urine tests to determine drug use by probationers and parolees.
