STATE-OF-THE-ART INFORMATION ON METHODS AND DEVICES FOR PROTECTING BUSINESS EXECUTIVES FROM TERRORIST ATTACKS IS PRESENTED IN AN ARTICLE DIRECTED TO SECURITY PROFESSIONALS.
Abstract
THE CLASSIC STRATEGY OF COUNTER-TERRORIST PLANNING--LOW PUBLIC PROFILE, OUTER RING OF DETERRENTS, LAST-DITCH USE OF PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT--IS NOTED. THE MOTIVES AND METHODS OF TERRORISTS ARE REVIEWED BRIEFLY, WITH REFERENCE TO A DISTINCT PATTERN THAT CHARACTERIZES MOST TERRORIST ATTACKS AGAINST POLITICAL AND BUSINESS FIGURES. DETAILED INFORMATION IS PRESENTED ON EACH OF THE FOLLOWING ELEMENTS OF A COUNTER-TERRORIST 'SURVIVAL KIT' FOR BUSINESS EXECUTIVES: PERSONAL BODY ARMOR, LOW PROFILE, HARDENED VEHICLES (LIGHTLY ARMORED, STANDARDLOOKING VEHICLES), SPECIAL DRIVER TRAINING, WEAPONS AND WEAPONS TRAINING, AND SPECIAL SELECTION OF SECURITY PERSONNEL. INCLUDED ARE SPECIFICTIONS FOR BODY AND VEHICLE ARMOR, INFORMATION ON ESCAPE/EVASION AND AGGRESSIVE DRIVING COURSES, DESCRIPTIONS OF GUNS THAT ARE PARTICULARLY EFFECTIVE IN ATTACK SITUATIONS, AND NOTES ON SKILL REQUIREMENTS AND WAGES FOR BODYGUARDS. PHOTOGRAPHS ILLUSTRATE THE ARTICLE. (LKM)
